The real rule at Lovers Point
Dogs are allowed on the paved paths only at Lovers Point Park, on a leash no longer than six feet — and never on the beach or the grass (PGMC § 14.08.030(b)(4)). Pacific Grove's Animal Services page lists the park as no-dogs, so follow the signs.
For the real thing: walk the shoreline path on a leash, take pooch to Asilomar State Beach (leashed), or go off-leash at George Washington Park before 9 am or after 4 pm.
